Introduction

Objectives of the Programme

The objectives for this MA (Literature) programme are to: Extend the existing generalized undergraduate studies by offering specialized teaching and instruction at an advanced level to meet Tanzania’s immediate professional needs; Create awareness of the problems of African development and a personal commitment to humanistic knowledge in Tanzania Encourage an interdisciplinary approach and joint research among all the University’s humanities departments; and Generate teaching and research materials with direct relevance to contemporary policy issues in Tanzania.

Graduates of this program can work as literary scholar, an academician, cultural heritage planner, museum curator, digital cultural communications and web designer, cultural and literary columnist, virtual reality content editor, consultant, researcher, entrepreneur, publisher, librarian/archivist, author/writer, community educator and editor.
