Introduction
The B.A. (Diplomatic and Military History) programme is a three-year programme aims to bring history at the centre of diplomatic and military thinking and practice in Tanzania and beyond and to prepare graduates who are historically informed when dealing with diplomatic and military issues.
Objectives of the Programme
At the end of the programme, graduates shall be able to: a.Demonstrate a broad and comparative knowledge of the general scope of the subject of global history, diplomacy and military relations b.Demonstrate an ability to forge international diplomatic relations with other nations or global institutions requires a deeper understanding of the history and interests of those nations or institutions. c.Possess an ability to articulate procedures, processes, and techniques of diplomatic negotiations, conflict resolution and peace building and design war and military strategies based on historical precedence, contemporary realities, and global trends. d.Identify and analyse global history and changing diplomacy, problems and issues in relation to diplomatic and military histories, the interface between history, diplomacy and war, and history of war and appreciate the diverse strategies and practices that exist in the World.
Career Prospects
a.Entrepreneurial opportunities: Graduates of the programme can establish entrepreneurial prospects as consultants or critics for historical, political and military issues. b.Employment opportunities: Graduates of the programme can consider employment opportunities in public institutions, ministries and ministerial departments, diplomatic corps and Foreign Service. They can be employed as foreign service officers, diplomatic corps, international relations experts, defence/military attaches, strategists in government and military, historians for foreign service and military sectors, conflict mediators and peace building experts. c.Leadership/Community-based opportunities: Graduates of the programme can also consider leadership roles or community-based roles where they can use their knowledge and skills in cultural and heritage development campaigns, preservation of community historical and political wealth and be social campaign experts for their communities.
