Introduction

The B.A. (Heritage Management) programme is a three-year programme aims to produce competent graduates who are capable of managing and conserving cultural materials.


Objectives of the Programme

At the end of the programme, graduates shall be able to: a.Demonstrate wide knowledge on the basic concepts, principles, debates within cultural heritage studies, nature and presentation of cultural heritage in various contexts. b.Demonstrate knowledge on systematic understanding of the professional and research context of cultural heritage studies and knowledge of legislations and various international conventions such as UNESCO regarding cultural heritage and the politics behind cultural heritage protection, conservation and preservation in the world. c.Show skills of critically presenting evaluation of key issues relating to cultural heritage: evaluate and apply appropriate theoretical and practical approaches to relevant debates, and integrating the results from fieldwork to answer specific questions and develop new hypothesis. d.Show skills of planning, developing and implementing creative solutions to heritage issues thorough the application of appropriate skills and interpretive frameworks and assimilating and synthesising broad theories and models relating to the management and protection of terrestrial and underwater cultural heritage. e.Demonstrate competence to work independently or in team, exercising self-direction and problem-solving capabilities to a high level on matter related to cultural heritage and socio-economic development.

a.Entrepreneurial opportunities: Graduates of the programme can establish entrepreneurial prospects in various areas as consultants for cultural and heritage preservation, archaeological site consultant, tourism experts, establish travel companies, establish cultural and heritage companies, and tour guide service companies. b.Employment opportunities: Graduates of the programme can consider employment opportunities in heritage institutions, museums, heritage management institutions and organizations, parks and conservation area, records and archives management institutions, and research institutions. They can be employed as historical-archaeologists, historical landscape archaeologists, palaeontologists, and archaeological heritage conservation personnel, historians and cultural officers. c.Leadership/Community-based opportunities: Graduates of the programme can also consider leadership roles or community-based roles where they can use their knowledge and skills in cultural and heritage development campaigns, or as social campaign experts and analysts for their communities.
