Introduction
This is a three-year degree programme that aims at preparing graduate teachers in Chinese and English. The College of Humanities hosts the Bachelor of Arts with Education (Chinese and English Language) in collaboration with the Confucius Institute at the University of Dar es Salaam.
Objectives of the Programme
At the end of the programme, graduates shall be able to: a.Demonstrate skills and knowledge on curriculum design and implementation, teaching methodologies, as well as skills in education management and administration. b.Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of language teaching/learning theories and practices. c.Demonstrate a capacity and aptitude for teaching Chinese and English and develop listening, writing, reading and speaking skills among learners of both Chinese and English as foreign languages
Career Prospects
a.Entrepreneurial opportunities: Graduates of the programme can establish entrepreneurial prospects in various areas such as the establishment of educational businesses i.e. translation and interpretation services, schools, educational support services and institutions, consultancy for educational services such as scholarships agencies and educational support services. b.Employment opportunities: Graduates of the programme can consider employment opportunities in ministries and ministerial departments, higher education institutions, teacher training colleges, secondary and primary schools. Graduates of the programme can also be employed as education officers, curriculum developers, educational analysts, education liaison officers, examination officers, training officers, education programme officers, educational advisors, educational specialists, educational book authors, teachers, school managers, government educational officers, educational logistics officers, educational counsellors, educational researchers etc. c.Leadership/Community-based opportunities: Graduates of the programme can also consider leadership roles or community-based roles where they can use their knowledge and skills in volunteering and provision of educational support services in the community.
