Introduction

The B.A. (History and Political Science) programme is a three-year programme aims to produce competent graduates with knowledge and skills on the interplay between history, politics and administration in Tanzanian society and beyond.


Objectives of the Programme

At the end of the programme, graduates shall be able to: a.Demonstrate knowledge and skills to articulate the existing political situations, public administrative challenges, international relations and diplomatic dynamics as historical processes b.Understand the essence of humanity and enhance their capacity to deal with current challenges facing humanity and human relations, nation building and nationalism, and changing global relations. c.Demonstrate knowledge, skills and competencies to interpret politics, public administration, and changing local/regional/global relations in their proper historical contexts and subsequently to produce correct knowledge/analyses/interpretations about those issues based on concrete historical precedence


Career Prospects

a.Entrepreneurial opportunities: Graduates of the programme can establish entrepreneurial prospects in various areas as consultants for historical, cultural, political and heritage preservation, historical site consultant, establish cultural and heritage companies, and work as political history analysts and critics. b.Employment opportunities: Graduates of the programme can consider employment opportunities in heritage institutions, museums, heritage management institutions and organizations, archives and documentation centres, regional and district cultural offices, ministries and ministerial departments, public institutes, historical sites, and research institutions. They can be employed as professional historians, political scientists and public administrators, historians and political scientists in national and international institutions/organisations, and cultural officers. c.Leadership/Community-based opportunities: Graduates of the programme can also consider leadership roles or community-based roles where they can use their knowledge and skills in cultural and heritage development campaigns, preservation of community historical wealth and be social campaign experts for their communities.
