Introduction

The B. A. (Communication Studies) programme is a three-year programme that aims to produce competent graduates who are capable of applying the right scientific techniques, skills, and theories in the field of human communication.


Objectives of the Programme

At the end of the programme, graduates shall be able to: a.Possess a broad understanding of communication theories and communicate competently in groups and organizations, and monitor and model interpersonal communication competence: b.Possess skills to effectively deliver formal and informal oral presentations to a variety of audiences in multiple contexts and construct effective written messages in various formats and styles, to a variety of audiences: c.Communicate ethically, responsibly, and effectively as local, national and global citizens and leaders and acquire knowledge and skills necessary to deal with diversities in various communication settings: d.Develop quality communication policies and strategies for organizations, institutions and demonstrate diagnostic and self-reflective skills in appropriate situations.

Entrepreneurial opportunities: Graduates of the programme can establish entrepreneurial prospects in various areas such as advocacy, lobbying, content creation for social media and start-ups, scriptwriting for advertisements on media platforms, consultants for communications strategies for various institutions, and graphic and infographic designing. b. Employment opportunities: Graduates of the programme can consider employment opportunities in publicity, public relations, sales, marketing, communication research, writing and publishing. Other potential areas for employment are tourism, politics and administration, media, social work, sports and entertainment, health and environmental sectors and in other areas where information processing and transfer is involved. c.
